The people you will work with

Five people handle AIPIA's work with American organizations. Four sit on the Technical-Scientific Committee, which sets the association's scientific direction; the fifth signs for the association.

Rafael Patron

Chair, Technical-Scientific Committee

Rafael Patron chairs AIPIA's Technical-Scientific Committee and is the first person American organizations speak with. He teaches at the Università di Firenze and at IED Milano.

He is the author of books on artificial intelligence and on LLMO, the practice of making published content legible to large language models, and he hosts two podcasts.

For partners in the United States he coordinates introductions, speaker requests, and joint programs, and he brings the right committee members into each conversation from the first call.

Umberto Luciani

Member, Technical-Scientific Committee

Umberto Luciani sits on the Technical-Scientific Committee. He has spent more than twenty years in marketing and communication roles at Microsoft, MySpace, BMG, EMI, and Mondadori.

Within the committee he works on AI applied to business growth and commercial processes. He is the member to ask about how AI products are marketed and communicated in Italy, and about the technology, music, and publishing companies where he spent his career.

Federico Pichetto

Vice Chair, Technical-Scientific Committee

Federico Pichetto is Vice Chair of the Technical-Scientific Committee and editor of AIPIA Studies in Applied AI, the association's open-access book series.

A priest and educator, he works on ethics, education, and technology, and brings a humanistic reading to the committee’s work on responsible AI.

As series editor he oversees Volume 1, the glossary of artificial intelligence published on September 10, 2026, and the volumes that follow it.

Josefina Strano

Director of Legal & Institutional Relations

Josefina Strano is AIPIA's Director of Legal & Institutional Relations and a member of the Technical-Scientific Committee. She leads the association's legal affairs and its relations with institutions.

American organizations reach her for memoranda of understanding, requests for institutional endorsement, and the documents behind joint initiatives with Italian partners.

She is also the person to ask how AIPIA, as an association constituted under Italian Law 4/2013, enters into agreements with organizations abroad.

Claudia Sanguineti

Board member and legal representative

Claudia Sanguineti is President of AIPIA, a member of its Board of Directors, and the association's legal representative.

She signs agreements and institutional commitments on behalf of the association. Every memorandum, endorsement, or corporate membership described on this site is concluded with AIPIA through her.

The Board of Directors guides the association's strategy and governance under its Statute. She sits on it with Rafael Patron.
